Wednesday 7/10: Mathangi Subramanian will be reading from her debut novel, A People’s History of Heaven. Books Inc. in Mountain View at 7 pm.

Michael Pollan will be discussing his latest book, How to Change Your Mind. He will be in conversation with Peter Coyote. This event will be moderated by Rebecca Solnit (Call Them by Their True Names). Book Passage in Corte Madera at 7 p.m. (Note: this event is sold out, but you may still view the event on monitors in the store.)

Former Local Book Pick Ruchika Tomar will be reading from A Prayer for Travelers. She will be in conversation with Chia-Chia Lin (The Unpassing). East Bay Booksellers in Oakland at 7 p.m.

Thursday 7/11: Why There Are Words presents “So You Think You Can Tell.” Reading at this event will be Robin Behn (Paper Bird), Heather June Gibbons (Her Mouth as Souvenir), former Local Book Pick Meredith May (The Honey Bus), Cynthia Morrison Phoel (Cold Snap: Bulgaria Stories), Tanya Rey, and Gary Singh (The San Jose Earthquakes: A Seismic Soccer Legacy). Studio 333 in Sausalito at 7 p.m. ($10, tickets required).

Felicity McLean will be reading from her debut novel, The Van Apfel Girls Are Gone. Books Inc. in the Marina in San Francisco at 7 p.m.

Bestselling author Meg Donohue will be reading from her new novel, You, Me and the Sea. She will be joined by Allie Larkin (Swimming for Sunlight). Book Passage Ferry Building in San Francisco at 6 p.m.

Don’t miss this week’s Local Book Pick event! Lila Savage will be reading from her debut novel, Say Say Say. Green Apple Books on the Park in San Francisco at 7:30 p.m.

Friday 7/12: Elise Paschen, editor of The Eloquent Poem, will be joined by contributors Forrest Gander (Be With, winner of the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry), Tess Taylor (Work & Days), and Randall Mann (Proprietary). Point Reyes Books in Point Reyes Station at 7 p.m.

Sunday 7/14: Don’t miss this season’s Headlands Center for the Arts Open House! Headlands Artists in Residence, Affiliate Artists—including Notable San Francisco’s Nishant Batsha—and Graduate Fellows will be opening their studios and putting on screenings, performances, and readings. Headlands Center for the Arts in the Marin Headlands from 12–5 p.m.

Monday 7/15: Join Rita Bullwinkel (Belly Up), Barb Johnson (More of This World or Maybe Another), and Jon Sindell (The Roadkill Collection) for an Odd Mondays reading. Folio Books in San Francisco at 7 p.m.

Helen Phillips will be reading from her new novel, The Need. She will be in conversation with Sarah Rich. The Bindery in San Francisco at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday 7/16: Meg Elison (The Road to Nowhere), Michele Harris (Blackdamp), and Jan Steckel (Like Flesh Covers Bone) will be reading as part of the Perfectly Queer reading series. They will be discussing bisexuality and writing. Dog Eared Books Castro in San Francisco at 7 p.m.
